So you're getting married in the fall. First of all, congratulations! A fall wedding means cooler weather and lots of warm light.
But now comes the fun (and slightly overwhelming) part...picking your colors.
They tell your guests what to expect before they even walk in. Your colors are the thread that connects your flowers, your invitations, your decor, all of it.
And with so many gorgeous fall wedding color combos out there right now, it's hard to choose!
Lucky for you, I’ve rounded up a bunch of fall wedding color palettes and some styling ideas to help you narrow it down.
Fair warning though, picking only one might be tough!
1. Burgundy & Gold - Classic Autumn Elegance
Burgundy #800020 | Gold #C5961B | Ivory #FFFFF0
There's a reason burgundy and gold never go out of style for fall weddings. They go great together!
You get the deep richness from the burgundy. And you’ll want to go with a true gold (no, not the shiny prom kind. More like aged honey. Tie in some ivory to soften things up and you've got a palette that works with pretty much any venue.
How to style
For your signature cocktail station, serve a spiced cranberry bourbon smash in gold-rimmed coupe glasses. Use a burgundy velvet drape behind the bar with a gold-lettered acrylic sign displaying the drink menu.
Then for your cake and dessert display, go with an ivory fondant cake with burgundy sugar flowers and gold leaf detailing. Surround it with a dessert spread on a gold-tiered tray burgundy macarons, ivory cake pops, and gold-dusted truffles.
2. Burnt Orange & Navy – Harvest Moon
Burnt Orange #CC5500 | Navy #001F54 | Cream #FFF8E7
I can appreciate that burnt orange and navy might not be the first combo you think of…but wait until you see them together. The orange is warm and earthy, more sunset than pumpkin patch. And the navy is very sophisticated and regal.
It's one of those color combos that look incredible in an outdoor setting but really, it holds up anywhere.
How to style
For your welcome signage, go with a navy sign with cream hand-lettering and a burnt orange floral garland draped along the top. Then carry that same treatment across your seating charts, and bar menus so everything is cohesive as your guests move through the venue.
For the groom's look, a sharp navy suit paired with a burnt orange tie and a cream boutonniere (e.g., a dahlia with a little autumn greenery) would be fabulous. Keep the groomsmen in navy too, with burnt orange pocket squares to tie it all together.
3. Terracotta & Sage Green – Earthy Romance
Terracotta #C2452D | Sage Green #9CAF88 | Soft White #FAF9F6
Is it possible that terracotta and sage green feel were made for each other? You get warm and cool, earthy and fresh, all at once. Add in a soft white and it works beautifully whether you're going for a vineyard vibe, a backyard celebration, or something a little more bohemian.
How to style
For your bridal accessories, wear terracotta suede shoes or a length of sage ribbon woven through the bouquet for a pop of color that won’t compete with your dress.
For your place settings, place terracotta charges beneath white plates. Then add a sprig of sage or rosemary at each setting tied with a linen ribbon. Now you have name card holders that look and smell amazing.
4. Deep Plum & Copper – Vineyard Luxe
Deep Plum #5E2750 | Copper #B87333 | Blush #F8D7E0
Plum brings the romantic depth you want for a fall wedding, and the copper adds a lovely metallic glow. Mix in blush and you’ve got a palette fit for a vineyard, a candlelit barn, or really anywhere you want the evening to have luxury wedding vibes.
How to style
Give your sweetheart table the VIP treatment! Use a blush velvet tablecloth, copper flatware, a plum floral arrangement, and a copper “Mr & Mrs” sign behind the chairs.
For your cake design, go with a semi-naked cake with plum and blush flowers cascading down one side. Have your cake artist add copper-painted fondant accents or edible copper leaf. Serve it on a copper cake stand and it practically becomes a centerpiece on its own.
5. Mustard & Dusty Rose – Warm & Whimsical
Mustard #D4A017 | Dusty Rose #DCAE96 | Linen #F5F0E8
Mustard and dusty rose is one of those combinations that sounds a bit odd, but it’s wonderful for fall. The mustard captures that golden, harvest-season essence, and dusty rose is so feminine and pretty. It's warm and whimsical and perfect if you want your autumn wedding to be joyful and beautiful.
How to style
For your dessert spread, set up a rustic wooden table with mustard-iced sugar cookies, dusty rose macarons, and linen-wrapped mini bundt cakes. Small linen pouches tied with dusty rose ribbon, filled with wildflower seeds, make cute take-home favors to match.
For the groom and groomsmen, go with tan or warm beige suits paired with mustard ties and dusty rose boutonnières. Groomsmen get mustard pocket squares. It's fun, different, and is a nice contrast to all that warm whimsy.
6. Emerald & Champagne – Timeless Grandeur
Emerald #046A38 | Champagne #F7E7CE | Gold #C5961B
Wow! Emerald is one of those colors that commands a room. It's luxurious (it’s a gemstone after all!) and next to champagne and gold, you get a palette that signals old-money elegance.
How to style
Set up a champagne tower on a gold-tiered stand with an emerald velvet drape behind the bar and a gold-framed acrylic drink menu. Serve an emerald-colored cocktail alongside the champagne.
For your wedding cake, go with champagne-colored fondant with emerald painted brushstrokes and gold leaf detailing. Have it displayed on a gold cake stand surrounded by deep green foliage and champagne roses.
7. Burgundy Wine, Olive & Ivory – Rustic Simplicity
Burgundy Wine #722F37 | Olive #6B7F3B | Ivory #FFFFF0
We’re coming back to burgundy again, but this time it’s paired with an earthy, organic olive. If you want your fall wedding to feel natural and understated, this combination does it really well. Rustic simplicity!
How to style
For the bridal party, style your bridesmaids in burgundy wine dresses with loose olive and ivory bouquets. And dress the groomsmen in grey suits with olive greenery boutonnieres and a touch of burgundy.
For the reception, go with long wooden farm tables and ivory linen runners. Use olive branches as a natural table garland down the center, with burgundy candles in mismatched brass holders down the center of the table.
